              Links to My Favorite Websites

              http://www.duotrope.com/

Duotrope's Digest is a searchable list of over 3,000 fiction and poetry markets. I've used this site numerous times and love it for it's ease of use and flexibility! You can refine the search as much as you like, even by style. If you have a stack of poems or a fiction manuscript lying neglected, check out Duotrope's Digest.

              http://www.whichbook.net/

"What should I read next?" Ever been stumped by that question? Whether you're looking for a book that is similar to a favorite read or something completely different, WhichBook.net will help you find the right book. The search engine uses sliding scales for values including "sad vs. happy", "funny vs. serious", and even "easy vs. demanding". I really enjoy getting the personal recommendations - it's almost like having a particularly psychic librarian at my beck and call!

              http://lookingcloser.org/

Okay, this isn't strictly a writing website. It's a site offering a fantastic selection of film reviews. I've included it because the reviews have always inspired me to create excellent art in my own field. A great story can be told on paper or on the screen; there's a lot to be learned from these insightful articles.

              http://names.mongabay.com/most_common_surnames.htm

If you're stuck on last names for your characters, this is a great place to go for some common surnames.

              http://www.authortechtips.com/

This website is amazing! The section on book promotion looks extremely helpful.

              http://www.guidetoliteraryagents.com/blog/CategoryView,category,LiteraryFiction.aspx

If you're looking for an agent for your manuscript, this seems like a good place to start.
