Welcome to the blog, Inbal! Can you tell me a little bit about WritersOut.com?
Writers Out is the first ever professional networking and eBook distribution service for writers of all kinds, published or non- published. At Writers Out we empower writers to publish, share and sell their work whilst using professional networking to create a community, build a fan base and stay connected with their audience.
What inspired you to start this website?
As a writer, I know how challenging it can be to present and distribute work to a targeted audience in a cost effective way. It’s not enough to be a great writer you must also be a skillful marketer.
There is nothing more frustrating than knowing that you have just written something brilliant only to find that no one is reading it, simply because they don’t know it exists.
We believe everyone deserves an opportunity to present their work, whether they have a publisher behind them or not. That’s why we decided to create a platform uniquely designed and built to provide writers with free marketing tools that enables them to utilize fast growing social media to their benefit.
Writers Out was created to put the author in the driving seat, giving them the opportunity to build a solid fan base through the power of social media.
What makes WritersOut.com different from other writing websites?
Whilst Amazon is a great distributor as is Smash Words we believe that they are lacking in their ability to build a community which prevents authors from creating a loyal following and direct communications with their readers.
Writers Out allows our authors to create an online portfolio, where they can showcase their books, blogs and other types of writing along with reader comments and views. The author view of their portfolio shows a statistic dashboard indicating number of views, sales and downloads for each uploaded file. The profile also allows them to add fans as friends and communicate with them either by the sites internal messaging system or via individuals profile comments section.
Authors can link to their Writers Out profiles on Facebook, LinkedIn and other networks using the Writers Out badge, but by late summer Writers Out will create user widgets allowing authors to present their portfolio directly on Facebook and other blogs or networks so readers can buy directly from the authors personal networks and sites like Facebook.
It makes me excited to even talk about it. There’s a real feeling in the Writes Out offices that we’ve created something totally revolutionarily and the best part is most our services are totally free. We only make a small amount of money when a sale has been made, so we can continue to fund future developments and pay for our servers!
What is the coolest thing you’ve seen happen thanks to WritersOut?
The coolest thing by far is that we have had thousands of people sign up and create profiles within weeks of our launch.
We received an email from a woman who has four children thanking us and our authors who have chosen to give their eBooks for free. She explained that she has lost her job and as a single mother cannot afford to buy books for her kids, but thanks to Writers Out, her children can continue to read and expand their imagination during these hard economic times.
Thanks for stopping by the blog, Inbal!
